Crazy Hair Day at School

by Tiff on October 25, 2012

As you probably remember from last year on we tend to go all out when it comes to the fun dress up days at school. Last year we celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday week with different outfits matching some of his classic children’s books.

This week, the kids’ school is celebrating Red Ribbon Week with different dress up days. The first day was Crazy sock day…however that was also picture day so the Taff kids sat that one out. :( Tuesday was wear your favorite boots, so we wore boots… which is really an everyday event for us. ALL 6 of us have boots and wear them a lot.

Then Wednesday was the funnest of all. Do your hair, not drugs! Crazy Hair day. While I had so many options going through my head, I had to remember my daughter has the finest thinnest hair of all creatures roaming this earth. I knew it would take a lot of work to get her hair all crazy. Then there are the boys. Who have short hair, what do you do for that besides the good old color hair spray?

Well, my son always wears camo and is obsessed with all things military, so we went with that. I sprayed his hair grass green, and we put in Army men. (we cut off any weapons they had in their hands, and hot glued them to bobby pins)

Then Mr. Briggs wanted Dinosaur Hair. Same concept, plastic Dino’s glued to hair clips.

And, here is Madi. A lot of hair gel, more hairspray, and teasing.

*Small plastic cups are in the middle of her hair to give it the shape!*

Do you get involved with dress up days? What are your best tips for these fun days?

We’re not allowed to change the color of our hair for crazy hair day, which makes things a little more challenging. We went for a cupcake theme instead! We did two matching buns (like you would do pig tails on top of the head) inside fancy cupcake wrappers (with holes cut in the bottle for the hair to fit through), then pinned a red puff ball into the middle of each bun for cherries on top. It turned out adorable, took very little time at the beginning of the day (not to mention when taking it out), AND we didn’t have to buy anything. We had everything we needed around the house.
