First Day of School Teacher Gift Pencil Vase

by Tiff on September 7, 2012

I have been stalking this craft for over 2 years on the web. Seen it in many different forms and ways. I have seen the vinyl decals available to purchase on Etsy shops. So, this year for the First Day of School (which was yesterday for us) I made these for the kids’ teachers.

I have a silhouette machine, so I can cut vinyl… its my love, the 1 splurge I have ever spent on myself that was not something needed. However, I have gotten my monies worth, and still using it strong. The jars say.. Mrs. Cooper’s Classroom, with a C in the middle, (or the other teacher’s names)

I used Dollar Tree vases ( actually these I already had on hand in my tub of catering dishes) However, you can see that I only had 2, and we needed 3… so I found another vase that I had. ( It was a bit smaller, but worked just the same. ) This is the reason I Heart Goodwill. I can always walk in and out with vases, and jars for pennies to the dollar!

Pencils – I had these from the Penny sales on back to school. See, I always find a reason to stock up on dirt cheap items. You really can turn stockpile items into gifts all the time.

I then wrapped them in some cello that I had, and tied them all cute with curled pipe cleaners. (Well, you see I had plans on using this checked ribbon I have, and some Rafia to make them a little nicer, but Laziness got the best of me and I did not feel like walking up the stairs, digging out my craft bin, and finding the ribbon… so I was all like, Oh Look! Bright colored Pipe Cleaners, right beside me, I’ll just use these!)
