Have a Healthier, Cheaper Breakfast; Whole Wheat Waffles

by Tiff on April 27, 2011

Mornings in this house are PRETTY rushed. I am sure you all are quite familiar. With 4 little mouths to feed, plus myself, making breakfast each morning from scratch is Out. OF. The. Question. While running through a drive through each morning might be tasty, it would shrink my wallet, { and my pants. *ahem*}

— Insert Made From Scratch Waffles–

My kids will eat waffles or oatmeal almost every morning. And no, I am not talking about the ” Leggo My Eggo” kind. While those are convenient, they are pricey, and unhealthy.

I have learned to make things from scratch, and freeze it for easy meals later on. Cooking from scratch is so much healthier, and frugal!

Here is what you will need:

1 3/4 c Whole Wheat Flour
2 tbs Sugar
1 tbs baking powder
2 eggs
1 3/4 c milk ( you can use half & half milk & water if you choose)
1/2 c oil
1 tsp vanilla
** You could add any flavoring such as cinnamon, or processed fruits**

This is my new love.

Mix all ingredients, and get to making your waffles!

* When ready to eat, just take out of freezer & microwave to heat up.*

What do you like to eat in the mornings?
