I rarely fry anything, partly because of the mess it makes, bad for my health, and it stinks up my house. But when I do fry, I have a simple way to dispose of my used cooking grease.
*Disclaimer – this may not be the most Earth friendly way. If that is dear to your heart, stop reading now. But like I said, I rarely fry. It is not a weekly occurrence*
While many may keep an old coffee can under their sink to pour the grease in and let harden… that grosses me out. I tried once. I could still smell it when I open up the cabinets down there. Do what works for you.
I take aluminum foil and line a cup. Just a cup big enough for the amount of grease you have, with a little extra foil at the top.
After the grease has cooled just a bit (but still a liquid) Pour it into the foil.
Ball up the foil tightly, and toss it in the garbage! (We empty our can daily so there is no time for a smell to develop for us)
