Meat – a single factor that can raise your grocery bill sky high.
We all know that you can save money from shopping Manager’s Specials, but another way is to buy cheaper cuts of meat and do the work yourself. Buying only boneless and skinless, you pay more because you are paying someone to do the work. I find whole chickens on sale often. In fact, I can find whole chickens on sale around $.99 lb where boneless chicken is cheapest at $1.79 lb.
Here is my easy tip to cooking that chicken…with the bone *gasp*
1. Put the entire chicken in a crock pot sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Rub the chicken with whatever seasons or spices you choose. DO NOT ADD FLUIDS.
3. Cook on low for about 7 hours.
Simple as that! Your house will smell wonderful, and you will have fall off the bone chicken!
What to do with all those leftovers?
The Taff’s never eat all the meat in one sitting. I will take the rest of the chicken, and shred it of any meat to use later in another dish. Soups, Tacos, Pot Pie…the choices are endless, and the best part, its already cooked!
