This week my kids’ school is honoring Dr. Seuss with a week’s worth of dress up days, each coordinating with a theme of one of his classic children’s books.
I tend to get over excited about these fun days. Afterall, they are kids, and this is something fun and memorable that I tend to go all out for. However, when I was informed of the dress up days…my mouth did this snarl, and my eyes got big. They are leaning towards the worst dress up days I have ever heard of. If the person who came up with these days is reading this, ” Hi there, it is me, Mama Taff. Yes, I did just call these days boring and lame. So sorry, but you must agree. Next year I will help you come up with something better. Raising my hand to vollunteer and help next year.”
Today was Wear something with Pockets. See there. You all just did that same snarl look like I described. Now you all know I am not just being mean, it is true. I mean really? Pockets? I think most of America wears something on a daily basis that has a pocket. However, it did go with the book ” There’s a Wocket in my Pocket.”
So there I was. On a mission to find the cutest thing we had that could go with Pocket Day. I found myself in our craft bin. With piles of felt sheets. The ones that are like a quarter each in the store. A shirt, and a few sheets of felt later, we had this…
I simply stitched on some fake pockets, drew large stitch lines with a permanent marker, and cut out a Wocket and glued him on.
Easy Peasy….now I’m off to make tomorrow’s outfit.

I can’t decide who he looks more like, you or D! Good job Momma on making the boring “pocket” day look exciting!
I love the experiences you give your children. I believe they will remember this for a life time and pass it on to thier families.
